Zenith Pulse Consulting ("we", "us", or "our") operates SmartBible (the "App"), available at smartbible.app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our App.

By using SmartBible, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register for an account, we collect your name, email address, and a password (which is stored in hashed form only). If you register via a social login provider, we receive basic profile information from that provider.

Reading Activity & Analytics

We collect data about your Bible reading activity, including chapters read, reading time, reading streaks, and reading history. This data is used to provide you with reading analytics and personalised recommendations.

Bookmarks, Notes & Highlights

We store bookmarks, notes, and highlights you create within the App. This content is tied to your account and synced across your devices.

Social Interactions

If you participate in community features, we collect data associated with prayer requests, shared highlights, community posts, and interactions within community spaces.

Subscription & Payment Information

Subscription purchases are processed through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and managed by RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your credit card numbers or payment card details. We receive subscription status information (active, expired, tier) from RevenueCat to manage your access to premium features.

Device Information & Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we store a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token linked to your account. We collect basic device information necessary for delivering notifications and ensuring app compatibility.

Search Queries

We collect search queries you perform within the App to provide search results and to improve search relevance over time.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide & improve the service: Deliver core functionality including Bible reading, note-taking, community features, and audio playback.
• Reading streaks & analytics: Track your reading progress, calculate streaks, and present reading analytics to help you build consistent Bible reading habits.
• Personalised AI recommendations: Use your reading history and preferences to provide AI-powered study suggestions, verse recommendations, and contextual insights.
• Push notifications: Send reading reminders, community updates, and other notifications you have opted into.
• Content moderation: Review user-generated content in community spaces to enforce our community guidelines and Terms of Service.
• Service improvement: Analyse aggregated, anonymised usage data to improve App features and performance.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with third-party service providers only as necessary to operate the App:

• RevenueCat: Manages subscription billing and entitlements. Receives your anonymous user identifier and subscription events.
• Firebase (Google): Provides push notification delivery (via FCM), crash reporting, and performance monitoring. Receives device tokens and anonymised diagnostic data.
• OpenAI API: Powers AI study features. Bible text and queries are sent to the OpenAI API for processing. We do not send personally identifiable information (such as your name or email) with these requests.

We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations, protect our rights, or ensure user safety.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database. We implement the following security measures to protect your information:

• Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security).
• Authentication: Access to your account is secured via JWT (JSON Web Token) authentication.
• Password security: Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: You can view the personal data we hold about you through your account settings.
• Export: You can export your data (including notes, bookmarks, highlights, and reading history) in JSON or CSV format via the /export feature in the App.
• Delete: You can request deletion of your account and all associated data. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
• Opt-out of analytics: You can opt out of non-essential analytics data collection through your account settings.

6. Children's Privacy

SmartBible is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at admin@smarterbible.app and we will promptly delete such information. This is in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
